Virii, malware and spyware (especially spyware) will change your homepage for you. The first thing I would try to fix it is to install an anti-spyware utility. Ad-aware is pretty good. You can download it for free from www.lavasoft.com.
Restart your computer in safe mode (hit f8 at startup) once in safe mode try running your antispyware software.
Uninstall what ever you just installed and goto the add remove and remove the things that don't belong there there are probably a few, if this don't work sounds like a windows reinstall
THOSE ARE A PAIN!! Go into your Control Panel, then Add/Delete Programs/Files, and look for anything that doesn't belong there. Then go into My Computer, then into C drive and check all your files and folders. If you see anything suspicious, delete it. That usually comes from advertising and their tough to get rid of.

If you have Yahoo! you can get a 30 free trial of Norton's and eradicate it for good. If you don't have Yahoo, then go on there, get yourself an address, upgrade (no charge) to Yahoo w/ Voice and you can get the free trial. It'll zap that sucker. Good luck!

I need an Irish IP address for watching the Ireland V Argentenia game on rte.ie, Please help?

Hi, I need an Irish IP address for watching the Ireland V Argentenia game on rte.ie. In order to watch the live coverage you need to be on the Island of Ireland. Since, I'm currently living in the UK I need to let the RTE website think I'm in Ireland. If anyone knows a way of getting an Irish proxy I'd appreciate it, Thanks

Why can I not re-install Norton security programs after reloading Windows XP and Microsoft IE 7.0?

My computer crashed from a virus or other faults I received after setting up SBC DSL. Norton antivirus protection had been downloaded and working. I installed MSIE 7.0 and AT%26amp;T Yahoo uses IE 6.0. I am using the AT%26amp;T provided disc to re-install DSL and online files. The download just never happems after it starts. What's going on here anyway?

Why can I not re-install Norton security programs after reloading Windows XP and Microsoft IE 7.0?windows registry

When you reinstall windows, be sure to visit microsoft to get all your updates before you try and install any software. Some of the windows updates require you to install, reboot, then revisit windows update, you may need to visit the site after rebooting 3 times before you get all of the updates........

Install necessary programs to get on the internet, once your on the net get all the necessary windows updates then try to install Norton.....

Why can I not re-install Norton security programs after reloading Windows XP and Microsoft IE 7.0?ie 6 internet explorer

possibly version conflict or a older version of your norton..
i assume you are running this on a single computer. if you install programs like that, you usually have to type in a code so it can only be installed once, on one computer. call them and explain your situation, and they should help you out.
When you uninstall Nortons, some registry keys get left behind and it stops you installing Nortons. Go to www.symantec.com and download and run their free removal tool. The you should be able to reinstall it without any problems.

Why can't i chat in chatrooms in Mozilla Firefox?? i can use it on IE but not on firefox?

Why can't i chat in chatrooms in Mozilla Firefox?? i can use it on IE but not on firefox?windows 95

The good thing about firefox is you can get alot of add-ons for it. One of which is an Internet Explorer extension. This means you can open web pages in IE format. The link is https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...

Once you get the extension go to Tools--IE Tab Options, then add in the URL of the link you want to open up as internet explorer, and it will do it every time. If you just want to change it when you want at the bottom right of the screen will be a little firfox symbol if you click that it will change to IE

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from CA.

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virus...

Run Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware weekly.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/...... . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run SuperAntiSpyware---http://www.snapfiles.com/get/SuperAntiSp...

Now to prevent spyware from being installed in the first place....

Download SpywareBlaster---http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html....

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

It's main features include:

- Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.

- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

Check your homepage settings - Tools, Internet Options, Home Page. Sounds like you have something there. Remove whatever is in your Home Page setting.
Sounds like a pesky virus. The root cause of your problem is that you are using a Windows system. The ultimate solution to you virus problem is to throw your PC out of the highest window in your house, and then buy a Mac.
its a virus

try avast antivirus

also get a anti spyware

spy bot is a good option

I don't like the way Firefox arranges its bookmarks. How can I make it work like the new IE boo

So I was using Internet Explorer 6 (or whatever is the brand-new one) recently and I love how the favorites list is set up, on the left side with the little scroll bar that makes finding things really fast. Anyway, I just downloaded Firefox 'cause IE is slow and kind of crappy and sucks up memory, but I hate that it uses the old crappy bookmark system, where you have to scroll for like 20 minutes to get to the end of your bookmark list because you can't jump there. Is there something I can download to make the bookmarks thinger on Firefox more like IE's?

I'm not sure, but that is one of Firefox's features have yet to get used to.
I would suggest if you are familiar with IE then Download and use IE7. You'll find Firefox lacks alot of the ability to properly view things online, and I also don't care for it's bookmark setup.

Best of luck!
Hey

try the following link to know how to manage bookmarks in firefox.

http://mozilla.gunnars.net/firefox_bookm...
Use Avant Browser. It does everything that Firefox can do and more. It works with IE so the bookmarks work the same.

I'm an Avant Browser fan all the way. As far as I'm concerned nothing else even comes close. I've used several others, but any feature that's worth having is included in Avant Browser in an intuitive and easy to use way. It is also the only browser I've found that works flawlessly with EVERY site and software I've encountered. It has no spyware, no extra junk and is extremely customizable. I love it. I feel crippled using the Internet without it. If I am using another computer for some reason the 1st thing I do is download and install it (this only takes a minute or 2). It saves all my custom settings online so I can just enter a user ID and password and I'm good to go on any computer I use.
if you have a comment on Firefox this is yahoo not "mozilla.com".
Have you tried any of the themes for Firefox yet? There is a theme for Fire Fox that makes it look very much the same as Internet Exploder. I use the Noia Extreme 2.0 Theme. Click on tools, then add-ons in Fire Fox.

Why should you use Fire Fox instead of IE?

One Major reason comes to mind:

Internet Explorer is built in to the operating system. If something goes really wrong with IE you'll have to reformat and re-install your OS.

If Fire Fox goes really south you uninstall it, reboot and re-install it.
